Think the eqivalient of a bright blue flash light. The brightness of the led is based on the MCD rating. The higher the MCD the brighter the led.

Well they are not that bright but they are bright :D
Let's say 3-5 are enough to enlighten a case when mounted correctly.

It all depends on the mcd.
Afaik 3-5 is very default and very low..1000-3000 are very bright while 3000 is kind of too bright.
The brightest I have "seen" (someone sold it on eBay) had 2200 mcd , that's extremely bright I tell ya :D

But all in all nothing to be scared of :)

    23,000 mcd (23 cd) but it's a 52mm cluster (PD01).

I've just been cursing bl00dy Maplins. Their 3-lead hyper-bright (CH22) is common anode centre, not common cathode as in the catalogue.

I think their brightest single led is a 10 cd green (NR87) , but which colour is best for a torch?

prolly them 52 green would be good for a torch cause its a round cluster. Best is yellow/bright blue/white i recon.

The leds in my PC Mods Rheobus are ultra brite, and they certainly are bright.

They light up my whole living room with a blue glimmer at night...

I think I will go for low brightness red ones, I only want a faint glow not to actually light anything. Something like the normal case LEDs...
