    Hi,

so the situation is this :
    - i have two HP ZR2740w displays right now.
    - i got a pretty nice offer, i can get a Dell U3011 for 550 euros. Yes, U3011 is CCFL, has higher inputlag etc, but it is 30" 2560x1600.

I do a lot of coding and have no issues with coating (i had LP2475w before, have two ZR2740w now, all with pretty heavy coating AFAIK).

So what is your opinion, should i buy it or not ? :D

Personally, for coding, i find two screens invaluable. Use one screen for preview and other for adjustments. I have 2x U2412M's and personally if i was to upgrade it wouldn't be to just a single large screen. Though that is my personal opinion and i do a lot of coding. ( I hate using a single screen now ).

I think this would mostly be a personal preference as I do a lot of coding, however my mates do a lot of Gaming and find a single large screen more beneficial. It would depend on how I wanted to use the computer to how I wanted it setup.

Try unplugging one of your 27" screens and see how you feel coding on one of those. The difference between 27 and 30 inch isn't mahoosive. In the end, i think only you could decide on this.

I assume you'll be running all 3 at once? or dropping to one?

Yeah, running all 3 at once is the plan. Right now the two are complemented by 23xi on one side. Plan is to put the U3011 in center, ZR2740w to the sides.

Edit: My biggest problem with this is that even now, sometimes my neck is starting to protest when i try to look at far end of the ZR2740w on the left side :D.

Move back from your desk a bit and just go for it!

I'd personally probably sell one of your current monitors and get the DELL :) (or sell both and get something like a U2412M and use it vertically with the U30)

^Portrait cheesecake :D If I had a little more desk space I'd love a smaller monitor in portrait

I'd get the Dell and put the other 2 monitors vert side by side so you can have code on either side.

Get an ergotron stand for them

For fun i just tried to pivot my ZR2740w , it is even less usable than when my neck was protesting, let's just say that top of the visible screen area is about 15cm above my head :D.

Lol - I wouldn't dare rotate my 27"... I was more thinking along the lines of a second ~20" monitor in portrait!

I know, it was just for fun to find out if it would be usable, but i think i will keep my ZR2740w in landscape instead of replacing them, even if ZR2330w's are only 150€ in shops, but it would be hard to find buyers for these 27" displays for reasonable price here in Slovakia.

Will try to take some pictures tomorrow (the display is already here and connected), but it is only in the best layout possible considering the space constraints, it will be much more usable once i will move to my own apartment at the end of this year.
