Hi, just stressing my lads 4670k Prime95 max temp before going for a oc. but noticed uneven temps in Core temp.

    Min Max
    core #0 44c 53c
    core #1 40c 51c
    core #2 42c 50c
    core #3 37c 46c

As you can see there is a 7 degree difference between core 0 and core 3.

Any one got any thoughts on why its so uneven?

It's due to the way that the CPUs are constructed so in other words, shoddy work by Intel.

My 4770K has as much as 12c difference depending on the cooler I use but that's not unusual.

I used to have a similar difference with my i5 750 but after re-applying thermal paste (went from AS5 to MX4) using the card method to ensure a very thin even layer over the whole IHS, which helped make sure that the paste didn't get clogged up in between the heatpipes that were touching the IHS directly (like they might if you used the blob and squish method) and the temperatures evened out.

They even dropped by about 10c each after about 24 hours!

If it was a ebay buy then I would de-lid but as its new and still under warranty no.

Its just bizarre that core 1 is cooler by 2c than core 2 on idle but hotter by 1c under load and core 3 is in a league of its own

I'm in the same boat. If mine wasn't under warranty, I'd delid both my Ivy and Haswell.

It's nothing to worry about and I'd hazard a guess that replacing your TIM, or reapplying it, will help very little.

Try MX4, you will thank me. and make sure it's a very thin even spread with a card.
