    From ExtremeTech:

The chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee said Tuesday that he wished to destroy the PCs of users who engaged in the sharing of copyrighted files, according to reports.

The Associated Press reported that Sen Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) came out in favor of using some technology that would "destroy" a PC used to illegally share copyrighted files, after the appropriate warnings.

Appropriate warning? What, something along the lines of:

"You now have 30 seconds to reach minimum safe distance..."

    Or maybe something more ED209'ish:

"Desist File Trading! - You have now have 10 Seconds to comply!"

    :D

Part of me wonders how much influence (financially) the record companies have with the politicians, I can't see them getting a bee in their bonnet off their own bat over this, I dare say the average senator is hardly that well up on the internet and the legal issues involved....

    :sigh:
