I am planning a new build using a corsair 500r case, corsair H100i cooler,Msi G45 Gaming Mother board ,Intel 4670K processor and 16GB of this Corsair Vengence 2400mhz ram. My question is will this ram work with this Motherboard? Blurb says board supports ram up to 3000Mh OC. Testing notes for motherboard on msi site all shows ram using 1.5v but this ram shows it is 1.65 volts. I'm confused. thanks in advance.
Yes it will be fine. 1.65 is right on the limit of voltage that is allowed. (It's actually not, there just has to be 0.5V or less difference between IMC and RAM voltages )
Thanks for the reply. Thanks for the reply. I have just noticed that the Msi support page for this Mmotherboard has two tabs for memory. One is Memory and the other is OC Memory. I found the higher voltage ram listed there. Must open my eyes next time . Im upgrading from an antique overclocked q9650 with 8 gigs of ddr2 OCZ HPC 1066 ram on an Asus P5K premium black pearl edition and have not kept up with certain aspects of the later generations of hardware. I'm going to remedy that when I overclock this new machine. Thanks again.
I have the same board anf processor using 8GB G Skills Ripjaws ram Runs sweet as a nut at 2133mhz The OC genie on the board is very good
