Some interesting stuff on my system:

I finally got it overclocked when I locked down my PCI bus, it was corrupting the SATA ICH-5 RAID controller...anyways:

    It's a 3.0C OEM and it only does about 3.2GHz (217FSB)....

Temps are not a problem (I can't break 45 on my abit sensors, can't break 35 on my Digital Doc on the heatsink)....it's all watercooled anyways.

When it reaches 217FSB at stock VCore, I naturally up it a little.....no matter what V I raise it too, same problem. It'll either crash windows very quickly, not start at all, or crash after playing planetside for a little......so VCore doesn't help with stability......

ALSO, my Corsair XMS PC-3500CL2 (best mem on the market right now) will not do 2-2-2-5 stably at 217FSB!!!! I have seen people running this mem at 2-2-2-5 at around 250FSB. The way it crashes is the program I am running at the time (i.e. Planetside usually) crashes after about 20 minutes of play....but windows doesn't crash, just planetside.....

I can understand having bad luck on my CPU, but my CPU and my RAM??

So here's my million dollar question:
Is is possible I have a flaky MB???

It's cheaper and easier for me to get an asus P4C800-E or another IC7-G than it would be for me to get another CPU.....what do you guys think I should do?? I want to do something, but I don't know what because right now the $500 I spent on my WC system is being wasted!!!

    ALSO:

My RAM Vcore is 2.8V (works the same at 2.7 or anything for that matter)
    My Game Accelerator settings are:
MODE: Auto (also tried turbo and street racer)
    Normal
    Auto
    Disabled
    Disabled

Same thing every time....won't OC more than 217-218 before crashing 3DMark....won't boot into windows at more than 225-230 or so....

Any thoughts would be great guys...THANKS!!

perhaps your problem could be thet you are running 217 FSB!!!!!

seriously the only supported fsb's are 33, 60, 100, and 133 so you are running a little out of spec there...

Nope, the IC7-G supports 800Mhz cpus (which are really 200 quad pumped somehow), and also I think it has BIOS options for 166 (which would take the 667 cpus which some think Intel might use for a Celeron type part).

Still, with 200 being the max officially supported fsb, I think just because it only does 217 doesn't make it faulty as by overclocking its outside its design specs anyway, it just seems you lucked out and got an exceptionally poor board :(

Lethal, I didn't check before I put on my WC block and it would be annoying as hell to remove so I don't know.

I'm betting it is though, but here's the problem...I have to decide from these options:

    1. Get a new RETAIL 3.0C
    2. Get a new MB
    3. Get a new RETAIL 2.4C because they OC so well.

This seems too bad to be true, but i guess it's still possible. But are you sure there is good contact with the waterblock, maybe try mounting it again.

Try downloading memtest86 to see whether it is your memory or not. As you can see here , i've been getting some strange results with the same memory as you.

I'm pretty sure it isn't the memory because I can set it at 3:2 with the most relaxed timings and my system still crashes pretty quickly at 217+. Shame.....:wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:
