Update finally! I've been away for a while, had a lot of stuff going on with the recording of Intel's Kitchen. And now I finally can say, after one month of secrecy, that I won the contest together with Lucas G (Auxilium/iSw3de). It has been a wonderful experience. The winning computer arrived at my place yesterday, and im going to start a new modding project after Chimaera is finished. Here is a sneak peak on my new X99 rig with 970 SLI: I have been working a lot the last few days, because I have Autumn holiday, with both sleeving and the case. This is also the first time im sleeving. Here are the results! Creating extensions on the cables... I have not arranged the cables yet, but this is how they look! Thats it for today!
I wasnt sure youd be able to pull off the '800D looking like a TJ07' but its not far from it currently
Thank you, im glad you think so Thanks! The GPU-blocks and the backplates are my favorites as well. Too bad resusing a block on a new card is almost impossible Thank you so-so much! WATER TIME! The best part. With both sucess and some failures... I am making this update after Dreamhack since I didnt have any time to write to work log before. I showed off Chimaera at Intel's booth at Dreamhack Winter last week. Its not 100 % finished yet, but enough to show it! I havent received any pictures from the event yet, but I am going to post them in the next update hopefully. Testing out the liquid Time to mount all the parts in the case, so exciting! New CPU block. EK Supremacy EVO And my beautiful Mayhems purple dye... In it goes! With a few leaks in the beginning... Because I was going to Dreamhack, I just HAD to install some LAN-rave-RGB in the case. This is how I made it: First i opened up the box, taking out the circuit board and removed the original connector using a soldering iron. Then I put two cables instead of the connector, soldering them onto the circuit board so I can plug in a +12v molex connector instead. The result with blue LED. I have a remote control which lets me change the RGB with different colors, shifting and pulsing light Ready for Dreamhack! A small DH preview... As you can see, I have some issues with the coolant missing color. I drained the loop right after Dreamhack and this is what the liquid looked like. I mixed these two batches at the same time, and the right is what it looks like after 5 days in the loop. I used Mayhems dye and silver coil. I also tried to refill the loop with new coolant but the result is the same after a couple of days. I cant really figure out what I've done wrong. Maybe cleaning out the blocks and radiator wasn't properly done. But the metals should work together, and I also think its a bit odd that the color goes out o fast aswell.
Build looks great! Love the colors. To bad the colors doesn't hold in the coolant. This is one of the reasons I haven't used colored coolant for the past 5 years.
Love the project, keep it coming! To bad the color don't last, have you figured out what the problem is already?
Many thanks Thank you! Its sad because its the first time im using colored coolant and it goes right down the sink atm... But i will try again Thanks Thorn. yes it is a bit old school Im glad you like it! Thanks. No i havent. Ive been a bit busy, but i think im going to buy new water, clean the system again, remove the silver coil and try again
Could the kill coil affect the dye? I've heard nothing good about using silver kill coils, and I know Mayhems dye can be mixed with corrosion inhibitor / biocide, so maybe that might be an option?
Thank Thank you! Youre a big inspiration for me, love your work! I tried flushing the system clean and removing the silver coil today, going to see if it works! Many thanks! Final Its now time to finish the project. I want to thank everyone who followed my worklog and I now present to you, the final photos. This project is now finished and I leave place to a whole new project, see you in the next worklog!
