Hi everyone, 1st post tho I have been reading for a while Any way as the topic says, the kind of paint i'm after is that stuff like on cars that changes colour when you look at it from different angles like some is blue and green, or red and orange(or maybe gold), I think it's called mirage duplicolour paint, Ideally just in regular spray paint cans ( I can get hold of 25 litre cans but they are rather expensive and may be a bit overkill for what I need it for ) well if anyone can help i'd really appreciate it am looking to paint my case thanks in advance, and hoping you all make me feel welcome
i recall seeing something like this many months ago, you should use the search and see if that pulls anything up.
in the states, it comes in 3 of our chain auto parts stores.. in the spray cans you are talking about, so it does exist, but over there.. can't help you there, (im doing the purple/gold on my rig) -emu
duplicolor make it.... no idea where you can get it in other countries, but most auto parts stores in the states carry it... its a 3 part system, base, shift and clear
Kmart and WalMart carry it as well, although WalMarts isn't Duplicolor. Again, not sure that helps across the pond.
http://www.antics.ltd.uk/acatalog/Main_Index_Polycarbonate_Spray_Paints_68.html Search for Fusion... About halfway down Spray onto a black basecoat for best results.... of for even better results spray onto a black glittery basecoat Cya, Sam C
Also called metal flake paint (UK), You could try a specialist car paint retailer/supplier, it will not come cheap though, and being car paint you will need to get hold of spraying gear and compessor. There is also a new one just starting that uses hologram material as the flake, very cool indeed! if you live in the UK look out for Fast Car look for the saxo ont he August edition.
metal flae is differewnt however imho it lookms alot better than pearlescent. metal flake ass flaes that shien nicely but dotn really change the colour and ive sprayed 2 cases with it and its deff a nice finish
thanks for the replies guys got some ordered, and a tenner can't be bad compared to the price of the 25 litre tins lol well hopefully I can be as helpful as you lot to other peeps in the future
make sure you got mirage paint, and not pearlescent or metal flake, as those are two totally different things and neither of them are what you want.
Yeah sure, If someone would host pics for me, (or point me to a good host which I could link to) when it's done (hopefully Friday/Saturday) I'll get some before/after pics for you to look at, or if anyone wants a guide/project log i'll try and sort something out. Thanks again *edit: lol @ "what's a dremel" (over there <-- under my name), i'd be lost without one
