Well here's the culmination of my weekend, my modded mx700. I didn't take pics of the 8500mcd led in the optical sensor part, but it is the same ultrabright green as the one near the scrollwheel. I am VERY happy with the results, the only drawback being that it doesn't track on black surfaces. Otherwise I am fit to be tied Plus, it's good to see something other than blue, right?
nnnnnice. i plan on doing the same thing to mine (except mine's a mx500). you have any details on how you did it (made the wheel itself) and where you tapped power for the led, etc.?
doesn't the MX700 come with a clear wheel? www.metku.net has the how to on the wheel making, under fire wheel.
it comes with a black wheel. he got the wheels from me, and i got them from a guy i know, and he got them from tap plastics 1" acrylic rings. I' not sure how he powered the LED, but I used the white wire on the conector with a bunch of mulitcolore cables
I still have a few rings left, if anyone wants them. I got them for free, willing to share the wealth a little. Thanks Morphine!
Phire since i am already one of your customers can I get one of thoes rings please please please? I would like to plunk one of thoes into my mx500 and put the blue to it... please im me or e-mail me at sethable@hotmail.com
I think I have 4 left, I would need like $2.00 for bubble mailer and USPS media mail postage. Please email me monaghan at cfl.rr.com instead of replying, trying to keep this a modding thread lol.
okay sent you off an e-mail. Very nice job on the mouse there, could you please give us a how to on the led install? perhaps some pics of the internals?
