Maybe when you're offline people aren't sitting waiting for you to appear online? Or maybe they are -- just a thought, dex. :)

Looking very good so far. I started writing one in visual basic, but I didn't really do that much and haven't done anything recently. I think I'll try to press on with it.

I just want something very powerful, but at the same time, not overloaded with useless features. It should have a simple and usable user interface.

I hate these people who have just discovered coloured names with plus, new line breaks or some other sort of "cool" thing, then they heavily overuse it. Meanwhile, I've discovered it about a year ago and decided it was a totally awful thing.

I think having nick@hotmail.com or whatever is pointless. It would be good if you could assign a set name to a user when you add them / they add you, like you would do on your mobile phone.

Doesn't Yahoo! work on that basis?

    Not sure.

But having people's variable nicks before the @domain.suffix would just make the user confuse them with the actual email address.

hehe, I don't think it's going to be an alpha/beta/final thing. I think it's more of a "oh, btw here's a quick .exe of it. i added..." type thing. Dunno, thread seems dead now anyway.

a notify type thing would be cool, so you can tag an offline contact, and it tells you when they come online...

Not to mention it can also log when users sign on/off, go away, go idle, and come back...
Oh yeah, and you can assign aliases in gaim too...

Did I mention there's a windows port of gaim?

    Sorry. :p
