I recently started playing CS:GO after years and years away from the CS genre. This got me thinking back to early 2000s when I played the game on my 56k modem and lately isdn. .. clogging up the phone lines all night. I then remembered some clans I was in at the time .... SA80 and TSU nostalgia got me wondering if the other members are still about... hmm. ....
I was admin on the old CPC CSS server yonks ago went under various names depending on my mood, Legoman or BrevilleSandwichToaster mainly with the CPC clan tag
Cs-Bombsquad Hard 2 Kill Weakest links Anyone remember Enemydown the ladder/league thing? Editt: I always wanted to get back into CS:GO but it sounds like a hacker fest.
I haven't been in touch with any of the old OCS-CS clan for about 15 years (I changed jobs and moved away so couldn't commit as much regular time for practice, matches etc). Johnny Napalm, Backdraft, Force9... I wonder what they're up to these days.
I played Enemy down, was Day of Defeat mind you, odd clan called "Whiskey Company Outlaw Division" run by a Romainian called Pure ratzinger (im amazed I remembered that) was great fun, I was pretty young at the time. I think I moved on to "Scotland Finest Highlanders" for BF2142 after that, I think that was still within ED. Cant really remember what happened after all that.
Shame 1.6 died thanks to Valve destroying it. Miss the old communities in 1.6, just don't get the same in CSGO. It is so toxic and elitist. Old clans/communities like ROFFS, Homeless, Shabooboo, SODA. Good times.
The old beta 1.4 and 1.6 was where I cut my online gaming teeth. Joined a community called AKUK (Ass-kickers UK ) back when I was on an old 33.6 dial-up connection. Spent so long getting used to the lag that I knew exactly how much to lead a target with the Sig 552. Great fun back then, but after trying out CS in a few lan nights with mates many moons ago, it's completely lost its appeal to me.
All this CS talk is giving me an itchy trigger finger. Does anyone fancy a game sometime? It would be good if a few of us could get together. I could demonstrate my incredible talent for catching bullets, mid flight, with my head.
If you mean games in CSGO, sure Yadda. Not played 1.6 for a while now. I was going to be playing more when I moved house. But since moving, found out I can't get any proper internet, it is worse than old 33.3k modems. So I only play when noone else is in and everything and anything is turned off that might remotely use the internet. Even then it is awful for games. But add me anyway, http://steamcommunity.com/id/yggfk on steam. I'll show you how to be even better at catching bullets in the face while mid-air.
CS is still the same as it's always been. Community ain't changed with CS:GO really, apart from the amount of eastern europeans. But that's only if you use Valve official servers. Add me as Digi if you ever fancy a game. I got an extensive list of mates at all ranks playing but I play at SMFC.
I played with a bunch of friends who used to run under the tag of [FAP] but it was never serious clan gaming, just for giglges. I wasn't till I started with [O-CuK] playing CoD that we started to enter ladders and leagues etc. I do miss my gaming days
Not many with day 1 steam accounts that have played 1300 hours of CS:GO though.. I'll post my steam profile when I get my new PC running by the weekend.
Best believe it! I was the first Digi on there, all others are pretenders.. On a side note Hamfunk, you are coming up for your 6th BT birthday, same month as me..
Add me if you want, there's a small group of us who play together, but we rarely get a 5man team. http://steamcommunity.com/id/rtf
