I didnt add yeast or anything, just left it on top of my very hot monitor for 2 days. Whenever I threw it away it was sludge like...partially. What happened? Maybe its not fermentation because www.brewersworld.co.nz/newsletters/Still%2520Brewing%252011.pdf+ferment%2Bcoke&hl=en&ie=UTF-8]according to Dr. Brew[/URL] fermenting coke is impossible.
ya, 2 days isnt enough to ferment it. coke turns to sludge when most of it's water evaporates, leaving the sugar and what not.
I knew a kid that put an apple in tin foil and then left it in a fire for half an hour. He then drank the juice and got "drunk" or so he thought! silly boy
what you threw out, was all of the nasty added things they put in coke to give it that taste... all of the caramel coloring, all of the sugar, caffeine etc... basically the water evaporated away
I heard that if you leave diet coke in a room above 80degrees farenheit for more than a day it breaks down into Formaldehyde (spelling?). Then technically in the US, you have to call the Hazmat team to dispose of it. Pretty cool stuff. That's why I don't drink diet coke
Yeah, it's the aspartame breaking down into its constitute parts at >86 degrees. Can't remember if formaldehyde is one of these or the result of the subsequent reaction within the body. Though either way, it ain't a good thing.
umm coke dont have aspartame, as much as I drink I'd be high as stoner seeing how my mothers side of my family(i take after her)is allergic(of course, it is like being high legally)to it.
Why does this surprise anyone... this is COKE for gods sake. the thing contains/contained cocaine - who knows what else it has.
Yeah, nasty stuff. They blame Gulf-War Syndrome on teh aspartame in pop getting warm and turning into nasty stuff... My grandpa was a pharmasist, and refuses to drink stuff with it in it. Guess that shows you something...
Yeah, soldiers were reporting funny tastes in their mouth, this was because aspartame usually breaks down in the stomach where as in this case it was already broken down in the can so they were tasting the chemicals directly. Although I doubt this is cause of gulf war syndrome. Drinking enough of it can also cause ____ style symptoms... EDIT: can't remember the name of what the symptoms mimic, will try and remember.
I been wanitng to stop drinking coke for the longest time. This little post has given me the incentive I needed. Thanks!
I think that if anything turned into Formaldehyde after just moderate heating, it wouldn't pass the FDA's sniff test, and therefore could not be sold in the US (at least without some sort of warning label...) There are a LOT of rumors about Coke out there... This site looks at many of them... http://snopes.com/cokelore/cokelore.asp
