After removing ITunes in the correct order as advised on an Apple page I discovered that it had played havoc with my system. So to cut a long story short it took a reinstall of Windows to sort.

What I am looking for is a free alternative to the ever increasing size of ITunes just to put my tunes ETC on my Ipod.

I don't have an ipod but I think you can use foobar to do this but it won't do it out of the box and will require some customization

Tried Foobar and all the faffing but not very user friendly.
    Went with CopyTrans Manager instead.

Seems Winamp will allows you to put music onto an ipod (don't own an ipod but I'm sure I sorted it out for my sister at one point).

I used to use Media Monkey but now use MusicBee, which has some of the locked out functionality of MediaMonkey in the free version. Oh, and it looks a whole lot nicer too, especially if you use one of the free custom skins.
