This has got to be something simple. But I have connected my Moto G 3Gen into 2 PC's and on opening windows explorer get zilch, nothing. See screenshot. Any thoughts?
Change the USB transfer type as this happens with my S7 Edge as well, I have to change mine so it says transfer images rather than transfer media.
Do you have a pin lock/other lock on your phone? I have to unlock my phone to get the storage to display.
This, did it on my moto gen 2 so I could charge it at work, it kept swapping the transfer type though when I connected it to other machines which was annoying.
After you plug it in to the PC, swipe down on the phone's screen and you should be presented with the USB options, if it doesn't automagically appear in My Computer.
My phone does this too. Usually if I just click on the notification on my phone telling me it's plugged in it initializes things.
Thanks guys. Another so called upgrade by Google as I never had to do this before the last system update. Why do they do continue to make the phones 'Better' with the constant moving stuff around adding crap we do not need and making it harder to do simple things like connect my phone to the PC?
I heard it was just to p you off Kronos No, it's probably someone's great idea to make something more secure somewhere.
Would you rather someone was able to pick up your phone, plug it into a PC and have instant access to your data? No of course not, they've added some additional security. Usually you would have to unlock your phone and set it to "Trust" the device it was connected to. If you're expecting to see it as a removable drive, maybe it's trying to use a drive letter that's already in use? Right-click "My Computer" or "This PC" what ever Windows calls it these days, and choose "Manage", then select "Storage > Disk Management" and see if you can see it in there?
I you had looked further back up the thread you would have seen that the solution was given, but thank you for your input.
I think it's so public or insecure charging points cannot surreptitiously act as a USB host rather than just charging and steal all your data.
