Hi I have one of those 5 Button Explorer mouse and would like to change the LED to blue. Has anyone figured out how to take one apart? It seems to be glued down.

doesn't that mouse have a red plastic base?

does a blue led still work well when it has to shine though a red base? i would have thought it wouldn't

Theres a clear tube between the actual led and the base of the pad, its a seperate peice. Whatever led you put in, it will shine out the bottom that way. HOWEVER, it will still tint the red plastic blue, meaning youll get punurple plastic

If you use a blue LED then make sure it's a VERY bright one. The camera is designed to pick up a lot more red light than any other type due to the red LED it uses by default. Also, on about 95% of mousing surfaces, red shows more contrast.

Just thought I'd warn you because people have had problems using non-red LEDs on optical mice.

I've had less trouble on a variety of surfaces with my blue mouse than other people with red leds, especially my dad's mouse, he has a blue mousepad and in the corners of the pad his cursor just plain screws up.

Of course the dual sensors on my mouse may make up for the loss.

just my experience with the blue leds.
