    Hi all,

I was wondering if someone could help me with what is most likely an easy fix problem due to my lack of understanding.

I have created a YouTube channel for teaching English and I am trying to do the banners and icons. I have an icon that is under 800x800 pixels but when I try to upload it as my icon it is always larger than the cropped area allows. I have tried reducing the size in CorelDraw, gimp, Photoshop but the image remains the unchanged when I upload it no matter what I do.

I am having similar trouble with the banner. It says it must be a minimum size but when I make the image the minimum size it is always far too big for the area and only part of it is visible (there is no white around the banner either causing this issue).

Please help, I am tearing my hair out.

When you upload a channel icon, the crop box is usually smaller than the icon. Drag the corners of the box out to cover your image. It should ideally be 800x800px with a max file size of 1mb. Make sure it's as close or exactly as it'll be scaled on different devices.

The YouTube banner must be 2560x1440px exactly with a max file size of 4mb. Saving it as a high res jpeg will be fine. Only part of the image, the very middle, will be visible on all devices.

You can get a template from here:

I have dragged the corners as far as they go and the image is the right size but it still won't fit within the crop box.

Guess I'd need to see the file. If it's okay I'll PM you my email address and you could send it as a TIFF?

File > Save As > There should be a Save As Type drop down menu. Select TIF or TIFF from the list. It'll have more info than a JPEG.

Otherwise, just a high res JPEG will do.

Okay, I've sent you some updated files along with a template. They should be in the correct aspect ratio and size.

I don't know how you did this but you are now my hero. Still had some banner trouble but I sorted that.

    Thank you so much.
