OK, This box was originally for someone else but they no longer want it. I've decided to continue the box as a project and possibly sell it when it's complete. The basic layout is different from any other box you will have seen (unless you've seen one I haven't).

It's designed to have an Epia board (an M series), and was to be used as a HTPC with DVD support. The reason for the M series board is because of the hardware acceleration for DVD playback.

Due to the requirements, the box was designed to sit horizontally as any DVD player or VCR does, with the DVD drive (and possible LCD) on the long side of the box.

Enough talk, on with the pics!

Exhaust holes cut for 40mm fans

    Screws mounted for 40mm fans

Some lovely 40mm delta fans (9000rpm). These things make your eyes water if they blow air in your face

The LEDs are to be soldered in a loom and fixed to holes drilled in the bottom of the box. It stands on rubber feet causing a blue glow under the box. The loom is almost complete.

There will be a switch to drop the voltage of the fans :)

Hopefully, I will keep it going and finish it soon.

There's only one dilema I am having. There was originally going to be a blue LED 80mm fan as an intake on the top. This would be positioned to the side of the motherboard (opposite side to the 2x 40mm fans). The problem is that if it is to be stacked, the airflow is restricted. I can't decide whether to add fans on the front, or to just add a grill for intake since airflow isn't that important.

i would just use a grill, i have one of them fans i broke it but it did give crazy airflow, its drilled to be ballenced too.

so.... what kind of hardware are you planning on putting into this cool case?

I'm also curious as how you plan on fitting it all in there.

I suggest little grills for the 40mms :p

Also a nice window/ UFO effect at the base would be nice...

EDIT: use a grill for intake maybe modders mesh or some variant?

A quick update. I've nearly finished the LEDs for underneath. I've sanded them since they weren't really giving off much light and just directing it all downwards. One of the anodes broke off while fitting them, so once it's all fixed I'll post some pics of it working.

The toggle switches and 8mm standoffs arrived today. I bought 8mm stainless standoffs because my 6mm nylon standoffs were too short to screw them onto the box AND have screws on the other side holding the board down. I'm using screws because it's much stronger and there's no risk of the motherboard coming loose.

I've been working on the LEDs for underneath the box and the fan control switch today.

A few LEDs under the box. I've sanded them since this picture to disperse the light more

The fan controller switch I've just finished. One position is full power, and the other uses a resistor to drop the fan speed

Couldn't you attach a sheet of plexi to the underside of the box (araldite) and let that glow ???

Look how bard has got that H00000J piece to light up!!...just an idea :D

Might do. I'd sand it so it glows instead of just the edges lighting.
