Hi everyone. I have a Coolermaster 111 case. And needed a fanbus to control fans/ccfls and as everyone that ownz one already knows, the knobs protrude too far to close the door if you have it in a slot. I saw this Rheobus Placement on another modding site (www.gruntville.com , its the Grunt Case)awhile back and decided to incorporate it into my greater schematic so here are the pics/results. So after some major case cutting and scary hole sawing and 8+ hours in my basement/workshop I get to enjoy and turn lil knobbies back and forth.... It turned out pretty well. I still need to add in a few lil touches. Im thinking of using some clear tubing to clean up the edges of the cut areas. Ill post some more pics of the actual modded areas soon. Enjoy, Daishi
The proverbial "Money Shots". Low Lite shots posted below. Whiteness Far Away all bl00 Cold Cathode (inside Case) OFF Bl00ness and whitenes From the pics its kinda hard to tell the LEDS are bicolored when you turn it up or down. It finally got dark out so I posted these low lites for you. - Daishi
That looks ****ing sweet... I hate the usual row of rheobus knobs in a drive bay, they look really good.
The LEDs were purchased from www.coolerguys.com They sell both 5mm and 3mm ones. The colors for both are vibrant and bright. Very nice LEDs - Daishi
Here is a shot of the case before anything was done to it. This is a picture straight from www.newegg.com of the case as I ordered it and as it arrived. So you can see the diff. Hope that helps - Daishi
Here are some shots of the inside, its very hard to actually see where the cut away points are. In both pics there are two shiny metal areas near the outside of the case. That is where the case came stock, and was then straight over to the chasis from there. I had to cut those portions out so the entire PCB could fit thru and sit flush with the front panel. I had to cut about 1.5 inches off the bottom and 2-2.5 inches from the top. It was tricky beause that area of the case isnt built as strong as I would have liked so I had to be extremely careful abouut what parts I cut as to not lose stability. Anyway, try to get an idea from the pics. You can also see that I attached a strip of thin shiny metal behind the knobs that sits flush with the chassis itself, and the PCB sticks thru from there to sit flush with the front panel allowing the knobs to stick thru far enough to turn. I should have taken some in progress shots, but sadly I didnt. However I Will be tearing the whole thing apart in about two weeks when I go to "Sexy Rheobus Gen. 2" then ill take some better shots So heres the pics. Hope that helps. Thanks everyone for all your comments. - Daishi
That looks really excellent - I have the same problem with my case - the fan controller I wanted to use has knobbies that stick out to far for my door - alas I have a full length door so I can't pinch your idea! Good work fella
Here are some pics of the entire case all setup and cleaned up. no more icky finger prints. You can see my stealthed drives with the door open. The window was from Pham Computers. There are a few other small mods here and there. The next steps are a already in motion. Ill post this stuff to a project log soon. Enjoy - Daishi

looks real good there, ya cant tell is actaully been modded, coz it fits in so well, which is often the plan for a modder. congrats, keep it up
awesome man...so smooth too. And couldn't help but notice that panaflo H1A on your heatsink...lotta air for a little noise, how loud is your case? Noticeable, not, or jet engine? *edit* i mean when the fans are stock speeds, no rheobus-ness
The CPU fan is the loudest thing in the case right now. But as far as loudness factor Id say its noticeable. I can easily leave it on and go to sleep. The stock fans that are in it now with all 4 on are pretty loud though. I dont have the rheobus fully wired into the 4 stock case fans or attached to my cpu fan yet. Need some extension wires and such and Im waiting till I sleave my PSU. But to answer your question, its an acceptable noise level. I am setting up watercooling in another month or so, so that will dramatically cut it down. But the Fan runs ALOT of air and is totally acceptable on teh noise level. - Daishi
Great job man!!! I have the same case and I put two blue led fans in the front and it looks great, big blue glow behind the mesh grill. Just tought you might like to know.
