Poorly thought out, probably a waste of good fittings. Before any one wants my head on a stake look at this..

Couple of things. Firstly they were so lazy/tight that they just put a fan cover over the block. IMO they should have cut that into a frame so you can see the whole block. Fan grill makes for a terrible window. Secondly it WCs the bottom of the PSU only, so the PCB.

The last one to come out was under strict NDA and no one was allowed to take it apart. Probably because it was a total waste of space. The last one launched also did not have a fully passive WC mode and the fan spun regardless.

I don't even know why they bother to keep making these. If they were half height, fully passive and so on? I could see a point in it.

Yep, utterly butterly pointless. If they were gonna cram a full 850W rating into a SFX sized box and slap a block on it, I could see the point - it'd fill a niche - but PSU's are already so efficient that they barely run warm enough for most semi-passive fans to kick in, and when they do it's virtually silent.

Cant see a picture of the block internals anywhere? Imagine its rather pointless.

its been tested by linus, and its worse than air cooled.

No one will show you the inside till its in consumers hands Mankz with the NDA.

linus worked out that there is a block under the PCB, not making contact with anything, so it just cools the PCB..... pointless.

Yup, and the fan spun regardless. Stupid idea.

That is the watercooling scene I miss... When everyone was completely mad, using pumps from fish tanks and heatercores from Vauxhall Novas...

I think someone did do a teardown of this, I remember reading about it. Was it Linus?? From what I remember reading, summarized: it was crap.

I count that as properly watercooled. The FSP with a block slapped under the PCB is not.

Still have my 240v Eheim, relay unit, car heatercore and DD Maze 4 CPU and GPU blocks in a box somewhere. Oldskool watercooling I miss. There was also the 10/8 vs 1/2" argument that went on for years
