My car insurance is up for renewal, and as per usual I got an on-line quotation from my current insurer which was 20% lower than my paper renewal. :D

On 'phoning them to ask a match with the on-line quotation I was told that if I compared their on-line quotes with the paper versions again, they'd cancel my policy! :miffed:

Do they want my business or not? :grr:

Whatever happened to customer loyalty? :wallbash:

Try getting insurance in Northern Ireland. It's not funny.

cancel then reapply, or report them to a Better Business Bureau..

In general no, they dont want your buisness, because you could cost them money, so they make you pay more...

Try elephant.co.uk, see what they'd offer, then flip off your old one ;)

What, and have them say "I'm sorry, but as you were uninsured between 23:59 when your previous policy expired, and now when you are reapplying, you have lost your 9 years NCD"

Wowsers, they're cheaper still! (only a tenner, but it all add-up)

I'm trying to buy my elephant quote....

however, I don't have enough limit on my Credit Card to pay it, so I phone them up, they have to take it all out of one account... so I phone the bank, ask them if they'll increase the limit and I'll pay the difference from the money I have in my other account....

I now have to wait up to 2 business days for my bank to get back in touch with me.... FFS

    Oh, and, moved to motors.

Why would you lose your no claims by not renewing your insurance with them??

Insurance companies have a get-out caluse called Discontinuous Insurance.

It basically means that if there's a break in your insurance (even a matter of minutes) then you can loose all your NCD. Since no company will back-insure you (i.e. insure you for yesterday), you are often tied to your existing insurer (who will back-insure, to the point where your previous policy ended).

Of course, taking the time to get new quotes and arrange insurance in advance of the expiry prevents all these problems.
