Open your case and have a poke around. Try not to break any expensive bits though, earthing yourself is always a good idea (i just leave the power lead in, but switched off, then touch the metal case as it's earthed).

On your motherboard you will probably find a few white slots (usually) which are pci's, and a brown one at the top which is your agp. there will only be one agp slot.

If your card is in the agp slot, go out and buy a pci card and you can use them at the same time.

Out of interest, why do you want dual monitors?

Gimme a min and I'll post a diagram for you

    Right then, have a gander:

I would guess that you have an agp card installed. Obviously then you will need a pci card.

You said that you use you puter for work, so I assume a crappy card would do. I bought my secondary card for £6.50 off my housemate, they go for about the same price on ebay etc.

Thats a crap 8mb s3 card though, I have a good (not great though :() agp one for games etc. If you want a good pci card, the radeon 7500 comes in as reasonable at ~£25.

You could always replace your agp with a faster one if you feelk the need, and get one that's dual head.

    This depends entirely on
    1) What you use your computer for
    2) How much spare bucks you got lying around

That's ok, you'll just need to use two pci cards. AGP is an accelerated graphics port, a slot purely designed for graphics cards, they're basically faster than pci. you should have no probs running two pci cards though (i'm assuming the card you have is already plugged into one?)
