Here is my own Hard Disk Window mod..

I don't know if anybody has ever tried this method yet,
but i used an all plexi cover instead of cutting the top metal cover.

Well.. I don't have a dremel to start with, and the hd cover(quantum fireball)
was so hard that it took me almost 10 mins to drill a hole with a power drill.

At first i thought that just a plexi cover can replace the normal metal one, but
i soon realised that the straight plexi cover touches the disk and the reading head.

So, i had to make two layers, one with a frame to raise the top cover, and the top cover itself.
Then, I used a tape(like insulation tape, but not it) to hide the screws and the bottom plexi frame.

I don't know bout you guys, but i think this way is much easier than using a dremel, and it looks
good too.. The black tape matches the black hd metal at the sides..

Anyway, here are the pics.. Tell me what you think..

Why the red led?? Cuz the hd model.. Quantum Fireball :D

honestly, the hdd mod isn't that hard. especially with all the guides out there, I do believe Linear was one of the first.

good job though, you've achieved the same result with a lot less work. props!

    Yeah it still does work..

It had 72kb of bad sectors defore the mod so i guess that doesn't count..

Well.. i'm gonna do another hd mod.. This time a Maxtor 7 gig hd( ohh.. i forgot. The Quantum one was 7 gig too)

Mayb post pics of that in a while, after i'm done.

    :dremel: got work to do!

Whoa.. Just realised that it would be not worth it doing another hd mod..

See, i am currently gonna mod my old dell pc(in the pic above, look closely), by making it a new acrylic case in SFF. So, the 2 hds used will be the Fireball and Maxtor, and one will be directly on top another, so... there's no point on doin it..

:sigh: really had the mood to do that mod though...

    Nice!!

I like it - looks really kool

I've never really had the urge to do my drives... since you cant really see them in my case!

But I really like the effect. I dont think that i would have gone with red myself (Thats really biased considering everything of mine is currently a blu/green theme....

Cheers - good work!
