Hi guys n dolls. I would like to revive a project I built in just 24 hours live at the DCMM/Gamescom, with my team colleague Johannes Loew. We did actually finish the outside and get a running PC in it too. But the last clear coat and hardware final touches never were actually finished. Its been standing on a pallet waiting now for over 4 years and is a bit battered up as well as scratched. Seeing as it win 2 Silver prizes there it certainly deserves an overdo. So here goes. This scratch build is all about the feminine, world of beauty, (That was the given theme then in 2015). I decided then to make a dressing table which certainly doesnt look at all like a PC, no buttons or monitor or leds visibl etc.. BUT! if you turn the drawer knob/handle left and then right, you turn the mirror into a monitoir and the drawer lights up into a PC. It will be going to the Gamescom in August and the young girls can do their makeup a while before turning the knob handle and play a few games. Turning the knob back puts it back into Mirrored dressing table mode. Its something special and hasnt been done before so lets see how they react at the GC. I have to do some reinforcing seeing as its been pushed around over the years and in some parrts come away at the seams. But all in all it is still a steady (24 hour) build. More to come..
Well, now it certainly is, even though I used to make just as many till 2.5 years ago too. This is how I like to spend my free time too. A day without being creative is a lost day. I was self employed till 2017 and did all my modding in the evenings and on weekends. The y are mostly the mods I show. Now 'I also show what I make for customers. This project however was as I wrote, a 24 hour build. And it was actually finished and working after 24 hours. Now I need a few days to finish it. Having more time isnt always positive. Its what you do with it, thats what counts.
sleep and rest. i thought mythbusters had confirmed that as a myth. i have heard of it though, must try it out one day.
So. the AMAZING GRACE, now has a glossy glaze. After the first coat of clear laquer, I sanded it again to get this worn look a bit. I want it to look used. Then two coats of clear again. Now I am waiting for it to dry.
Well. The gals who will be demonstrating have pretty slim legs at the Gamescom. I cant sacrifice the comfort for the look. It has to look like the dressing table it is. Its more about, "yes it can be done". That the first glance dowes not give away what it also is, a fully working PC. anyway. here are afew more pix of me placing the hardware and making cable covers etc.. then i film coated the glass pane with new reflective film. and then I accidently sat on it. F............K, after 4.5 years of standing around and 4 gigs, now it broke while being refurbished. Aw well, I have cut a new pane and just stuck the new film on it. Now am waiting for it to dry. here i made a new panel for, this time with a usb reachable withoput opening the drawer. also a headphones port and resetter and pwr on. THE drawer knob is working too fro monitror on and leds on off. Well. The gals who will be demonstrating have pretty slim legs at the Gamescom. I cant sacrifice the comfort for the look. the film is dry, now i will cut the edges off and mount it into the frame. after connecting, all i need to do is the software part. oh and look for a nice white keyboard n mouse to match.
and then it was finished. Hi guys, here are some final pics of Amazing Grace, It can be seen together with 10 other mods at the Caseking Booth at the Gamescom in Cologne from 19th till 24rth of August. Special Tahnks goes to Susi for modelling and Szymon for his great photographer skills. these pics were made in broad daylight in the new halls. But it looks now as if it was pitch dark. Its a ROG and Seasonic powered machine with a Ryzen CPU and 16 gb of Ram. turning the Drawer knob turns the monitor on. See you at the Gamescom!
