i can see some seriousily cool things with these fans......you could for example, light up the main body with an ultry bright red led, and light up the fan blades with an ultra bright blue led.....these things are beggin for some light......
Ok I ordered one and it came today. Very cool looking, very clear and should look great after I UV paint it. I am not sure what the true db and cfm are but I can tell you that it pushes a nice amount of air and is really quiet. Came with grill, screws, and attached to a 4 pin molex. Will be cutting that and attaching to my fan bus. So far so good!
aaarrgghhh... I ordered my last week and they are still not here!... probably two more days... I want pics, did you use the uv nail varnish?
Have two of them on the way along with some UV varnish. Oughta be interesting. Wondering if the plastic itself is somewhat UV reactive.
b0llocks! Those plexi fan guards are damn expensive, especially when you consider you can get chrome ones for .81. Gordon
Tooooooo coooool.....Shine a UV light on that sucker, linear. Tell me if it's "UV reactive" all by it's lonesome. i have some UV varnish waiting in the wings if it's not.
that looks sweet linear.... blends right with the case... neeeeeeeed pics of it lit! BTW still haven't gotten mine....doh!
I wouldn't mind seeing a pic of that whole system... or are you holding back on that one? http://www.bit-tech.net/article/67/
Got my UV clear varnish tonight--the clear fans should be here tomorrow. The plan was to paint the blades with the varnish. Experimented tonight with a clear piece of plastic. Doesn't look like it's going to work--nothing there to reflect the glow... Now that's weird, because the blacklight is enclosed in a clear plastic housing that glows when the light is on. What gives?
The experiment was with one side of the clear plastic coated with the varnish. Tonight I'll try both sides and see if that works better. The varnish isn't exactly 'clear', but a cloudy white. Spread on thin, it dries clear. perhaps with both sides painted, the UV hits it and bounces back and forth between the two coats and makes it glow. (As you can see, physics isn't my strong suit). Those clear fans are just screaming for some kind of mod....
if the varnish flouresces, you shouldnt need it to reflect off anything to make it "glow" , uv light hitting it should be enuff ...
