I am putting together plans on a rater in-depth mod and wanted to ask for anybodys experience on watercooling. Would it be okay to run a watercooled rig 24/7 using distilled water and treatment following a ragular maintenance check and replacement fluid every 4 - 6 months?
IMO, unless you really like WC maintenance, there is really no point in replacing fluid every 6 months (unless using some sort of coloring agents, those dont tend to last long), the longest I ran without touching the loop (24/7/365) was 5+ years. ~10% antifreeze + distilled water is my go to solution, most "pc watercooling" additives are pretty much just overpriced antifreeze.
Well, they have gavanic corosion inhibitors and stuff like the EK one lubes your pump better. But year, I've run distilled and deionised water + silver kill coil for 5+ years, EK's clear premix for around the same (that did produce a but of white residue in the Res but nothing in the blocks). 4-6 months is a bit OTT, and you'll soon get bored of bleeding bubbles
Tbh mate buy the pre mix fluid I have 2 280mm rads a cpu block and a res and I ordered 2 litres and I've only used 3/4 of one of them and you get all the benefit of the pre mix.
