A new badge pic

OK, this one is a 1:1 ratio if anybody wants to make a badge for themself. Also I have the original layers and some photodisks of hi-res flag pics so if somebody would like an image with different flags, I can alter the image very easily, just lemme know. The reason i chose US/UK flag combo is coz i'm in us. Once again, no plugins used, a few filters and the secret weapon "Apply image.."

I just shrunk it down to 1"x1" and it doesnt look that good to me, so just enjoy the pic 8) I might do some more that are better at that size.

Hey try dis:

Get shape of logo (as selection),
New channel (name it logo),
ALT-DELETE (fill with colour (white)), deselect,
DUPE channel, (select new layer),
Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian blur 8 then 4 then 2 then 1,
CTRL-CLICK on the other channel you duplicated (logo),
Goto layers, new layer, (remembering now you have the selection in the form of the logo) fill selection with colour (say blue),
Filter -> Render -> Lighting Effects, now make sure texture channel is the one you blurred (logo copy?) - White is High - directional light going at 45degrees from top left to bottom right of object,
CTRL-CLICK layer, Baussian blur 4 then 2

give it a go - Gives a nice effect on grey - dunno you play with it i neeeed bedd...

 

Actually, I shrunk it down to 1" in photoshop and I think it looks very nice.

Don't you mean "Here's the pic I SHRANK to make the avatar from"? It seems like you didn't make anything, you just stole an image, and shrank it... Wow, this graphic design stuff is easy

 

I like the flag image. It would make a righteous avatar actually.


I'd suggest using a layer mask for each flag that's a linear gradient--the mask for one should be the inverse of the other. That way instead of a hard line between them, they'll fade into each other over a distace you control. If that doesn't make sense to ya, mail me the PSD file and I'll show ya.

 

That new badge design certainly portrays the worldwide domination of Bit-Tech! Nice, I like it!

PS for Linear: As you can see the flags are from one image, so i dunno if that grdient effect would work like you meant. The pds file is 64megs and zipped it 4.6meg, lemme know wif ya still want it.
