I'll go first. ARGB... Annoying 'not solid click ' connector awkward to plug in. SATA Data... Got to get it the right way and often falls out of hard drives. USB Guaranteed to plug it the wrong way around the first attempt, even if you have looked at it. All PSU Connectors. Make them easier to plug in and motherboard manufacturers, put the 8 pin auxiliary connector somewhere easier to get to when building. Front panel motherboard connectors. PUT THEM ON A BLOCK TOGETHER!!!
I hate same cable-different specs. Case in point when moved from a Huawei P30 Pro to a Google Pixel 6 Pro. Does the USB-C to 3.5mm headphone adapter from the old phone work with the new one? No. So I have to buy a new one. Looks identical. But has different magic inside. Same with the charging cable/plug. I have a USB-C cable connected to a Huawei supercharge jobbie but does it work in the Pixel? Of course not. A different USB-C magic is required. Stupid proprietary bull excrement!
Wife had the exact same swap and same issues. Well not the 3.5mm adaptor, wireless headphones. Where I went from the P30 lite (with the Quick Charger) to the Pixel 6 and the charger worked just fine.
Oh.... can't forget the braided cables on my Razer accessories. Messy by veato posted 22 Jun 2022 at 10:58
Ethernet cables that are in stupid locations so it's almost impossible to depress the tab to release them. Cheap power cables made out of bad PVC insulation that just don't bend properly.
Adding to the list: USB 3 internal header, why is it so difficult to work with this one in particular? The IDE ribbon cable was a nightmare to cable manage
The IDE ribbons forced you to learn origami. I frikkin loathe the internal usb 3. Even with slim extender ribbons, the stupidly long and unnecessarily rigid cable is a right **** to manage out of the way.
Another vote for the internal usb3 connection. It would be nicer if it was parallel to the motherboard, rather than having to bend the un-bendable while not putting stress on the socket. And another vote for Ethernet sockets just under an immovable thing above it so you can't press the clip down. There are some sff pc's where the screw that holds the case lid on is just above the ethernet socket and tbf it's giving me ptsd just typing this.
What? You guys don't break the ethernet retaining clip off so you can yank it out faster? It seems to be the fastest way to stop my rig from lagging, since it's 100% of the time caused by windows update doing downloads. Another vote for the blue monolith that is the internal USB3. They made the pin spacing too small to solder your own together, too.
Yes! By far the biggest pain in the arse of all cables. Big hands mean I find them very fiddly and, dodgy eyesight means I can’t easily see what I’m doing, when trying to connect them. A single block would make plugging in so much easier.
Asus supply a single block they call a "Q-Connector" that you can plug all the wires into where you can see what you're doing, then plug that into the motherboard in one go.
I knew I had one on one board, must be my Asus. Then again, plug em in once and it's pretty much done.
They didn’t do that when I bought my Asus board in 2018. Dexterity is a problem for me due to old hand injuries and osteoarthritis and, I find it difficult to read the tiny markings on the board. I could do with one of those little connector blocks.
I mean my Asus board is a Z77 so we're going back a bit. Would be a bit odd to ditch a handy idea, I mean it's a small block of plastic. I mean you still have to connect them to the block but it is alot easier out of the case, so long as the little buggers don't wriggle free when you're putting it in. Yeah, I'd probably class them and the usb 3 front header cable the most annoying.
I had a Z77 and have an X470, both Asus and have never seen such a connector included. Must have bought the wrong ones...
Odd, fwiw mine is a P8Z77-M but I was under the misguided assumption all their boards had them. Very odd.
