Less "wrong" and more "premature" - *now* he's resigned. As has the Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury. And the Security Minister. And the Science Minister. And I haven't even had my cornflakes yet...

The BBC's now saying 50 MPs have quit so far. 50!

    EDIT:
52 - Technology Minister and Pensions Minister just jumped while I was having breakfast.

    EDIT EDIT:
    53 - Courts Minister.

    EDIT EDIT EDIT:
    54 - Secretary for Education.

#55 - BBC are reporting that Caroline Johnson has quit as vice chair of the Conservative Party.

They're now saying Bozo will only resign as Conservative Party Leader, but will continue as PM until the autumn, with a leadership contest over the summer & a new PM in place by the party conference in October.

That's part of the problem of course, they may be resigning, but they're all not really resigning - They are still MPs and will carry on. Many of those letters will be an act of self preservation, there will be lots of those names that will pop up again as part of the 'New Tories' under a 'New Leader'.

Well, I think Larry the Downing Street cat is the only one with the experience, political will and fluffiness to be the new PM.

    Very much so.

Think of the gaggle that are 'resigning' but will replace him or the other hats that will get thrown in.

Steve (don't believe the science kill the animals and planet and burn everything) Baker wants to run apparently.

Mind you I'm not sure how many met with former KGB oligarchs all on their lonesome. Oh but then Patel did fly to have illegal meetings with a foreign power.

Yeah, the frontrunning resignations set to replace him aren't beacons of inspiration.

Wonder how long Carrie'll stick by his side when he's no longer PM? I mean, let's face it, I doubt she was attracted to his winning personality or Adonis-like physique. Or, y'know, loyalty, honesty, parenting skills (how many kids do you have again, Mr. Johnson, or don't you know?)...

It's the bare minimum effort again - jumping on the bandwagon when there's safety in numbers. They didn't have the morals or courage to stand up up when it mattered but, months/years from now, they'll hark back to this moment to reinforce their claims that they are the leaders with the moral conviction we need.

Since Bozo is staying on as a caretaker, does that mean Michael Fabricant now has to return the spare head for the official No10 mop?

    True enough.

This all seems very déjà vu.

    How does this work then?

We elect a party to govern as it stands. Their leader then becomes PM. If they're no longer leader of the party how can they be PM?
