High, ive just bought the a KT7-A-Raid

can you raid two exact HDD on the same channel as master and slave for stripping.

or can you only strip one device per channel

U can - but cause the IDE bus can only access 1 harddisk at a time it wont be any faster then 1 large harddisk on its own.

Got it in one Bindibadgi :D

The only way to gain the performance improvement is to have them on different channels.

Try scsi if you want the drives on the same channel.

well what about two 20Gb on one raid channel as master and slave.

And on the other 2 10 or 15Gb.

HDDs will all be same manufacturer and everything.

Spec will be 2Mb cache with 5400 RPM (dont like the drive spinning too fast, ive lost two 80Gb maxtors due to the motor overspinning)

Only one device can be access on any one IDE channel at any one time.

Making them master and slave to each other leaves you only one device being accessed at a time. Put the drive you want to use in your RAID (the 20gig ones) on a different channel from each other.

Going off memory i think you board has 4or3 IDE channels. The first two are the RAID channels.

Not sure if you can create more then one RAID at a time though.
