Just so you guys know, these fans really only work for exhaust blowholes, you could maybe use one for intake at the back of case, if ya mounted the led's outside of the case. Just wanted to mention that, before you do it to all your fans and then find you cant use em all.

    Actually.....

That is not 100% correct. If you have a window mod you can still mount the fan and have it noticed from the inside which is what I have done right now. Or.....you can reverse the power which goes to the fan and reverse the fan direction. So anybody can do it :)

    Reverse power?

    Hmm.
Only do that if the fan blades are completely flat. If they have any kind of aerodynamic curve on them, then running em backwards will likely make the airflow all nasty - increasing noise, and decreasing efficiency.
    I think.
But them im only an aero eng student, so what do i know ?

    I apologize

I was not considering all the factors. I was just mentioning to anyone who really wants to do the mod and doesn't care about a little loss efficency or the increased noise it is a possiblity.

    Sorry Randland

I just checked my email and noticed that there was a post and felt a need to respond. The reason why I hate these forums so much is because of people who just like to read them and bash others. But for an update, I went to radioshack to get more parts so I can have an example to take pictures from step to step. I promise to have it done by the end of the week.

Ok - sorry if i seemed a little disparaging re. the reverse fans idea. It really was just a guess - Ive never actually tried to run a fan in reverse and forwards and compare the airflow / noise characteristics.
    T'was just a thought.

btw. reeeeaallly lookin forward to the tutorial - hopefully no sliprings involved :)

This mod looks good!! Can you imagine doing it with a chrome painted fan?? Oh, baby!!

I would be intrested in an article, as well as every modder out there. I beleive that moddin.net did a lighted fan mod, but it looked complex, and involved a home made slip-ring (ouch!).

    Good idea!

williamsbg03 - Any progress on the tutorial, this thread seemed to die when it had so much promise. I would really like to see a step by step so I can do this for my new case. And some more information about the Fiber Optics you used would help alot.:)

Thanks for the positive feedback but I cant take credit for this. This article was done by sandy an external writer. He did the original and a revised version over at:
