I was invited to post some pics here on Bit so here is a round up of my latest completed project: Project Metropolis is a PC designed for Via technologies to showcase their latest Mini ITX mobo offering. Project Metropolis and their new product will be revealed at the CEBIT event in Hanover, Germany on 18 March Metropolis is inspired by the 1928 Fritz Lang German classic film of the same name. What I've done is take their mobo and placed it among impressionistic replicas of the famous buildings and architecture of the city of Metropolis. I took liberties with the design and placed the mobo under a clear dome, like so many filmamkers and artists envisioned the future of cities in the 20's and 30's. If interested, The complete worklog can be seen here: Project Metropolis welp here they are...some final pics... The Uzbee Building: Removable 32 MB USB Key Here is the Radio Tower with built in wireless keyboard/mouse receiver: This working quartz clock is on a 10 hour day, from the movie. Here is the base of the unit. You can see the two AC ports, VGA connector and audio connector.
I saw a serial mouse plugged in on the mobo? but I did'nt see either a mouse or keyboard??? Its a nice case, but not my flavour Regardless tho keep up the good work
I added the pic that shows the "radio Tower" (with ligted antennae) is actually the wireless receiver for keyboard/mouse =) And the Uzbee Building: The "Robot Maria" fan grill and power/reset building. There is an 80mm Panaflo behind the grill.:
Thanks!...took a while to design...everything is very compact, so I made careful calculations. Construction took only 45 hours.
That looks quite nice and I look forward to seeing it at Cebit next week. I will move this thread to modding since as you say it is complete and not a project log.
Nice result you got there in the end. I feel proud being part of the design and construcion of this case.
hey..that means a lot..Glad you like it Mashie...and thanks for the help on the project..it was fun to colaborate for a bit(and in person!!) with a true modder.
That's Wicked!! Hey, where did you get that clear plexi dome? Well, assuming it's plexi, could be glass... Anyhow, been trying to source plexi-hemis' with no luck...
Thats a blow-molded acrylic hemishpere from Industrial Plastics here in NYCity...apparently they have colors and many sizes. Do a google for the company and give them a call. They will ship anywhere, although their website isn't e-commerce. Paid $24 US for it.
