Wouldn't the heating up of air cause the flow to be away from you? :)

The gravitational pull of your body pulls the tiny smoke particles towards you and the heat makes the smoke rise towards your mouth. Simply place an object with more mass than you the otherside of the soildering gun :baby:

    hmm

I would think that itwould have to do something with static. even smoke has a positive/negative charge I would gues.. And chances are your the opposite, Or have a strong magnetic field, so naturally the smoke goes twoards you/someone else. esp in solder. Seeing as it has iron in it im guessing that also gives it more of a static charge. jst my guess :D

Just like cats. Sort out who doesn't like cats, jump on their knee.

If you whistle while you solder, it blows it away...

    So remember, folks,

Just whistle while you work (whistle)
Put on that grin and start right in
    to whistle loud and long
Just hum a merry tune (hum)
Just do your best and take a rest
and sing your self a song!

When there's too much to do
Don't let it bother you, forget your troubles,
Try to be just like a cheerful chick-a-dee

And whistle while you work (whistle)
Come on get smart, tune up and start
    to whistle while you work!
