What would good sound levels be for 80, 92, 120 mm fans? I'd like them quite quiet. Most of the 80 mm's I've seen are 28-30 dba, but I've seen a Panaflo at 21. Who else makes good, quiet fans? Thanks.
quiet 80's i'd say is around 20-24db and 120 i'd say about 30-32db is considered quiet for those. and 92mm i'd say 28db or somewhere around there
80mm Accousti fans at Kustom PCs are 14dBA to 21 dBA depending upon temperature (they have sensors) 92mm Accousti fans - 18 to 26 dBA 120mm Accousti fans - 26 - 34dBA See them and other quiet fans here
20db or lower is goign to be pretty inaudible until you get very close to the fan. But if the fan is louder you can always 7v it
20 > - is considered silent/v.quiet 20 - 30 - is normal drone (basic PSU level noise) 30 < -annoying 40 < - WHAT, I CANT HEAR U?
Nexus do a 120mm fan that is 22.8 dB, with 36.87 CFM. Zalman do a 92mm fan 20.0dB @ 1600rpm (CFM not stated) Nexus do a 80mm fan 17.6 dB with 20.2 CFM The db would be lower if you 7v it!!
they are nice and quiet, i wouldnt go for anything above 20/21 though. But im a bit of a silent freak! RoB
PAPST have one that is 12db(A)... and my enermaxfans claims to be 14 at lowes setting... but i don't really believe them...
I had 12dBA Papst fans but they really didn't shift much air and after less than a year they developed a slight groan type noise in the motor which kind of spoilt the effect a bit. 20dBA for the 92mm Nexus is at the low speed setting - the Accousti fan is 18 at the low setting which is 26.7 cfm. I asssume you are a Nexus fan, kill_me_quick but I was only giving the Accousti fan as an example, we're not in a "I can find a better one than you" competition.
mmmm not really, but that is all they had on the novatech website however i might have to shellout for some new fans soon as mine are way too loud.
quick tip remove the sticker on the fan revealing the spindle and bearing and give it a squirt of wd40, let it dry the put the sticker back on. Usually shuts up the old moaning fans
