Got my new lcd yesterday, it solder together, sleeved and running like a charm I have some problems taking pictures of it, its all blurry becasue of the backlight, anny sugestions (I have Canon Digital IXUS IIII)... Will post some pictures of it when I come home from work
update again! Thanx xeno! Here are some more updates... I did some more filling with the glasfiber filler, and it sands down descent enough, I will use something like bondo to make it smoother. I also filled in the three top "airwents" in the front, to make more space for other things (fanbus, buttons etc...) Anyhow pictures for you: This is how the front looks like now... And a closeup, so you can se how the glasfiber filler looks, its rough, but as i said, will use something finer, more tomorrow i guess \\Balder
Man I wish I had all that real estate in that case. Guess I'm gonna have to fork over for a server tower myself. MOD TIME
Yeah I know, lots of space rocks On the downside, this pice of metal is heavy (read my back hurts) I'we been a litle lazy latly, will do some more soon...
Small text update Ok, so I did some shoppimg, cutting and filing. Went down to the local diy shop and got some wheels, to heavy to lift around... Started cutting out the back, to fit the rad, if you look at the rear images posted earlier its the top rigt spot.. And the front, I nees some more wet'n dry paper, more pictures to come... The mobo mounting was done, useing allen head screws... Pictures tonight baby
update, with pictures! ok, so I finaly grabbed my camera an took some more pictures: The front, after two coats of black, used some 1500grit sandpaper on the part where the filler was used. Mobo standoffs Rad mounting, I will replace the screws with some else The whole rad unit from the side Mounted, viewd from the side Rear shot She's a heavy bugger, need wheels, they turn 360 degrees..... Now I need to sort out the window, paint the inside, and buy some W/C stuff (pump, etc..) \\Balder
small update! did some work on the front last night, this is what it looks like now: Think i need one more go with the 600grit paper and one more coat of black...
Update, paint job Little update... I started to paint my top lid on monday, been a bit lazy but managed to grab my camera and get som pictures. I painted the top with a High Gloss black paint, used 3 coats of primer first (sanded the top with 180 and 300 gritt first, and used 600 between the coats), and then I aplied 5 coats of black (sanding with 600). Now I need some 1200 and maybe 2000 grit paper to make the finish real nice, gonna grab some rubbing compund from my father in law (who works for 3m ) anyhow here are the pictures: Sanding with 600 grit paper and soap water... Test fitting the top between the painting (after 2 days of curing) And the finish.... still gonna give it one more coat and sand with 1200, maybee even another coat and 2000 if I'm not happy with the 1200 finish \\Balder
man i wish i had a case like that there'd be some space to fit my 3 full size scsi hdds ) (you don't want to see my server with those hdds cramped in it ) nyway starting to look good but i would've done a bit more with that lcd cut out maybe it's just the pic but for me the angle of the slopeing of the bondo doesn't seem even. nyway keep it up
Thanks, The bondo work looks worse on the picture, but its almost not visible in rl, gonna do something about it later (tired of the front and bondoing )
Not only norwegian... I think its about the whole Scandinavia!!! Balder was a god in an old religion the vikings had (worship of the Aesir I think its called)... He was the god of the light. (Of what I heard) Balder was the most beautiful god, and he was almost immortal. He could only die if he was shot with a special sort of arrow, an arrow made of mistletoe, that Loke (the god of the evil) deceived Balders blind brother Höder to shoot... The history lesson is over for today No complaining about the grammar, i'm tired...
Don't forget to polish it when you're done with the varnish! Seen the project at ok.no too, but it seems like you're updating more frequently here. Or maybe im just blind Anyway, just don't forget to polish, looks like you have a real good chance for a sweet finish
thanks bamse, I will use some 3m rubbing compund before i put on the varnish, and buff it upp nice with some nice car wax or something after And I actualy update the thread at ok.no first
Then I might be that I'm becoming blind.. Naw, think it drowned in the middle of all the other logs. Been a serious lift in the worklog category lately. Can't wait to see the finish! Keep on moddin'
Ok, I have the whole weekend in front of me, hope to do somethind then. Here are some plans: - Work on the front, the lcd area and the floppy area - Work on the window and the sidepanels - Try to give the top it's last coats of painting - The inside paint job and mobo mounting Have one ide about the inside: I'm gonna make alle the tubes and cables run through the other side of the case. The w/c stuff will only be visible over the cpu and under the gpu.. It will be painted matt black inside what do you think?
