    Okay,

Im looking at either a 200N or the Shuttle SN45G

Specs are looking like a barton 2500 to 2800

    120GB IDE HDD
9600XT card and separate hauppage TV card
    or
    9600PRO all in wonder

Im after 512MB or (1GB preferred although may not be possible due to cost) ram to go in these. Obviously I want dual channel but Ive read that some SFFs are fickle when it comes to brands.

So can anyone recommend good ram to go in the Biostar and the Shuttle. Im not looking to pay the earth as I doubt I will be overclocking.

I just want good performance ram. Any help appreciated

I can only say from experience that the SN41 is fickle with my Geil PC3200, but the SN45 wasnt a problem. Cant speak for other brands though.

If you're not overclocking, I'd always go for crucial. (The stuff does exactly what it's meant to, and they guarentee to always take it back if it doesnt.) Relatively well priced too.

I have a sn45g shuttle and I started by trying to use kingston memory but it didn't work (i think the memory was bad) so then I bought some crucial and it has been running great ever since. :rock:x

I dropped in Corsair TwinX PC3200 and never had a problem.

corsair tends to work well in shuttles :thumb:

not sure about the biostar, but sudhian may well be helpful for that though.

Thanks guess its between corsair or crucial.

Now to pick a shuttle or biostar.

Difficult - was leaning towards 200N but have read issues past 2 days about whining noises, so now more back towards SN45G

I always use crucial or corsair in Shuttles as I've had big problems with cheaper stuff "Geil" , "major brand" in SN41's the SN45 isnt so fussy as it hasn't got the builtin video. There is the V2.0 m/b problem where if you mess with Vdimm the boards can just stop working but overall I've not had any problems.

Yeh ive heard that on the v2, but apparently the new bios disables changing the vdimm setting
