Unless you're a pro, you might want to send your parts to a place that does chroming locally. It's kind of... dangerous?

Its something like submerging the parts in a liquid, and running current through it.

you probably read my post about painting the USB cover right? well REAL chroming is a long process that involves a lot. however i did find a spraypaint that is "chrome" but it is nowhere near the quality of REAL chroming. the paint is a good (cheap) solution and i'm sure you can get a good result from it if you know how to paint well but if you want quality...leave it to the pros

what kind of money do you think "real" chromeing would cost?

Well G-gnome would be the best to ask for that. As he had about everything chromed and can still afford internet access I couldn't imagine it's THAT expensive, but I'm sure it's not cheap either. Check the yellow pages and call someone who does it.

I've seen someone get there whole case chassis and panels done for 200 USD if that's any help. It depends on where you go and what quality though. The paint isn't that bad looking if you're a good painter.

Chrome plateing would be best but Alsa Corp. has a chrome paint that would be a close second ,
just mouse over the top left "Chrome Paints" header to see one example ...
    Alsa Corp.
They also have some other paints/coatings that look good

Chrome paints look like crap compaired to the real stuff. Chrome is so expensvie because of what it entails, the object has to be dipped into 3 different metals/chemicals i think, acid to clean it, nickel to plate it and the final chroming. Also if you have plastics its another step or 2. MY advice is if if your are building a metal case with no real window, only corme the outside, or if money isnt an issue, chrome the whole thing, but i have yet to find a paint that i could classify as "chrome" paint.

Obviously you didn't follow D Bs link. ChromeFX is about as close to chrome as you'll see. It's what they did the Terminator up with in the movies. Of course, it's not a rattle can, but if you got a gun, it can be painted on and turn a LOT of heads.
