hi, im creating my own media pc, and being a noob at electronics, was wondering if you guys could help me. I would like to build my own set of buttons, which i can use to open up WinAmp and other programs in windows, or carry out pre programed tasks. It would be really good as well if this could be wired up to the PS/2 keyboard port at the back. thanks alot guys.

I'd be interested in this too. I've got some push-buttons (CD rom eject button style) that I'd be wanting to do something, but I haven't found a way yet. I'd be happy with something for the LPT or COM ports though.

Check out this setup ... This works through the serial (com) port on your computer. There are some links for programs and plugins to use the button interface with winamp or other stuff for windows.

I also want to try and build the same kind of input buttons, using the guide from modasylum. (link above). I'll try it and post my experience here. If anybody else did this successfully then please let us know. :dremel:

I have used that 16 button com port circuit successfully. Worked like a charm.
