I called this one Jujube after my fave movie theater candy :) The goal of this PC was to create a scratchbuilt case in one week or less, from easy to find parts from local stores. The front bezel is an aluminum door saddle (or sill). Interior framing is all alum angle from Lowes. Black acrylic is from a local plastic shop. The gold finish is Duplicolor simulated annodized paint.

    specs:

    P4 2.8c
    MSI MicroATX mobo
    ATI AIW 9800 Pro w/remote
    Shuttle 250w PSU
    SB Audigy2 ZS
    Sony DVDR-RW
    1GB Corsair
    200GB WD Sata HDD
    BeyondTV 3
    WinXP Pro

    Additional hardware:

    Griffen Powermate USB Knob
    Matrix orbital 2x24 VFD

Nice work! A very neat exterior. :thumb:

the use of a door sill is very original.

Looks great! I'm in the market for a similar solution for my own HTPC. Do you have a project log for it somewhere? I'd love to see more pics of how you put it all together, i.e. the back panel, mouting the powermate/VFD/DVD etc.

I've got a powermate on the way, and a Pioneer UJ-825-B slotload slim drive. How is the 1U power supply working out? I'm concerned about noise from the 40mm fan, and heat in general.

I like the case, the simplicity of the materials used, and the finish on the knobs, switches etc. Nice work. :thumb:

I do have one gripe though, and it's purely an asthetic, personal-taste, one; the LED fan in the window. It looks, imo, ghastly. If you wanted to vent the CPU fan, I personally would have used clear ducting to the fan grill, and for case-heat exhasusting, would have fitted something on the back panel. As I said, just personal taste. I'm not one for LED fans, certainly not in windows. ;)

Hey thanks to all for the replies..as for the Shuttle 250w PSU---it could be quieter...however it was the right fit for the case. As for the heat, its not bad--again there is probably a better solution out there.
