Ok up to now my wireless network has been going ok but yestoday the internet connection from the router was lost about 3 times :(

Each time I restarted the router and the problem was fixed, except for the 3rd time..
I then restored the factory default settings, and then set my internetconnection back up on the router, this is working since Im posting this on one of the wire'd computers :)

the problem with the wireless computer is that they use the belkin wirelessLAN utility, and its icon is red (meaning you cant use the card) It needs to be green, I've been on the belkin site, wich wasn't very helpfull at all.

I need to know how to get the wireless cards to function again. please help me as soon as you can :waah:

Your information is still vague, is there any other information about the problem?

Did you change the ESSID name from the factory default when your were setting up the network? If the names are different then they won't be able to see each other.

Is the router broadcasting the ESSID so that the other computer can find it?

ok, the network is working fine for the wire'd computer and the radio's are enable'd on the wireless cards.

all the settings are as they were before as far as I can tell.

    maybe this will help

The wireless cards can see the network, just the cards are not enable'd so they can join the network.

By the look of it the cards can see each other fine. I think you're trouble is actually setting up the network. Have you set up other networks before?

Sounds like the router is not working or the signal has deteriorated too much, try moving the router, and make sure it's not surrounded by too much metal.

how far are you from the router,
how many pcs are having this problem(all the wireless ones, or just a few),
can you get to the internal page of the router
also try updating the router firmware and well as the drivers/ software for the cards

I was having a similar problem with my netgear wireless shiz. I solved it by totally disabling the netgear software (just leaving the drivers). If you run msconfig you should be able to disable your belkin software.

Ideally, you want to get hold of the manufacturers drivers for the wireless card, instead of letting WinXP configure it automatically.

If you have broadcast ESSID switched off, switch it on. If you have WEP/WPA/any encyption/MAC filtering, switch it off on the Access Point/Router. edit AND the wireless card as well, o'course!

Set wireless access point to dish out ips via dhcp, set wireless card to receive ip via dhcp.

See where you get and then add filtering/wep/.. if it works.

Maby an encryption key is needed? If you router isnt using it, try it. Enter the key on the wireless computer. It might help.
