I don't know how to make the poll on here...

I am putting the finishing touches on my case design, but I can save massive space by blocking off most of my PCI slots with either my HDDs or my power supply. Before I do this, I figured I should think of future planning and take a bit of a survey in case I'm just ignoring something I'll need later...

    So, the question is:
Do you use your PCI slots? If so, for what?

Yep, for an Ethernet Card, heh. Thats not really the question though is it; the question is, do you/will you use yours? If I were you I'd leave at least one (I've never needed more than one), but then it depends what your PC is being used for.

Same here, I have one slot for my Turtle Beach Catalina, one for my Firewire/USB2 card, and a 64bit slot for my Adaptec Fibre Channel HBA... :worried:

    Yup.

Hercules Game Theatre XP sound card
Diamond Fireport 40 (my 6-year old UW SCSI card)
And up until my move a year ago allowed me to finally get broadband, a US Robotics 56K modem.

I'll *always* use at least one PCI slot, because onboard sound sucks ASS.

    Hmmm.

Well, the thing is, I have a Creative Live 5.1 w/livedrive, but I'm thinking of dumping it. It's ungainly, produces extra cables, and I just don't use the livedrive that much anymore. My motherboard (abit ic7-g) comes with Dolby 7.1 sound and gigabyte ethernet, along with more ports than I could ever shake a stick at (am already running some of my multiple USB/firewire ports to the front of my comp).

So I guess currently, I have 1 pci taken up by a card I want to dump. are there any lcd or mod type things that would require (or maybe should use) a pci?

I've only ever used on for an Netgear card, but am thinking of adding an Audigy at some point as it'll be acting like an HTPC :) .

I have 7 slots on the case, 5 for PCI, 1 AGP, and one spare, and I use every single slot, and need more, got tv card, firewire, extra USB graphics card, the rest are for the lighting controllers - used in empty case slots.

I wouldnt use that space, you'll probably need the slots for an upgrade in the future.

Yes, I use mine for: 10/100 Networking card, WiFi card, 5.1 Sound Card, 56k Modem, and soon for a secondary graphics card (dual monitors).
