    Here's how you do it...

    Step 1) Open your browser
Step 2) Type "www.google.com" (minus the quotes) into the address bar
Step 3) Type what you are looking for into what's called the "search box", in this case "ide controller schematic" (minus the quotes!)
Step 4) Click on a link that looks relevant, for instance, the first result... http://www.pjrc.com/tech/8051/ide/wesley.html

its fairly easy with a micro that has inbuilt 8080 style address bus.
note the wrod failry, as in, anyone who would have the gear to make it fairly easy, and the experiance, wouldn't be asking here.

Its possible with PICs/Atmels (low end RISC micros') best examples tend to be in mp3 player projects.

MP3 players are very easy if you use the right bit of silicon, you can get a chip that takes a bit stream, decodes mpeg-layer3 audio, and has the DAC built in (so all the difficult digital mp3 data to analouge is done in just one chip).

With that done all you need is some memory fast enough to feed it!
yampp is just one of the MANY (these were very fasionable to make back in '00 i myself gave into this trend, now it sits in its static bag!)

u could try getting a USB 2.0 or firewire external HDD or u could get an IDE to USb adaptor if u want to make it easy
