Not hitting my 3dMark03

AS you may know, I just got my comp back from the shop. All that is different, is an arctic VGA silencer, and a Thermaltake volcano 11. I went to do 3dmark03 and my final results were 5400. Before, I got 6200. What's wrong? I did install directx 9.0c but even before I installed it, I was getting 5400. I have the same gpu overclock as before, what's wrong?

 

I used to get over 7000 in Wing's of Fury, but now I'm only getting liek 6600-6800

 

I managed to pull a 6613 on mine, overclocking the card till it was artificatulicious... that's with a 256mb 9800xt though...

at a light overclock I'm running 6524 - that's no artifacting either...

 

Drivers? Settings in the ati control panel? fastwrites? vsync?

 

waht are the best drivers? 4.8? 4.9?

 

Im having issues with the 4.9's so i couldnt tell you.

From my experiance the good ones for me are the 3.2 3.6 3.8 4.2 4.5. 4.8 dont seem too bad.

 

I'm reinstalling 4.8

 

btw what's fastwrites? should it be on or off?

 

It makes no difference to performance, but having it off makes ati cards more stable, and able to clock much higher in comparison to having it on.

 

All the drivers I try they all say I don't have a compatible graphics card, even the Omega.

 

Use the catalyst remover on the ati site 1st

 

I installed omegas and got 6366 on 3dmarks03

Well I can't say for sure, it could be a ton of different things. But 3dmark scores are worthless anyways, with all the driver optimization crap, etc.

 

Thats why i havent bothered running it on my x800 yet.
