Anyone know of a good spray or anything out there that can rid me of these pesky things !? I somehow got em in my appartment and now I can't get rid of em... you kill a couple of em and the next day there are twice as much of those f***ers... anyone got an affordable idea !?

    Cheers

    Fred

Only way I've heard to get rid of them is get a can or Raid and spray every day for a month. That's typically long enough to kill them and their spawn.

Are you absolutely sure that you don't have any rotting fruit or veggies anywhere? A few years ago I had the same problem with fruit flies and ended up finding a bag of rotten potato's burried in the back of my pantry I had forgotten about which was the root cause of all the flies. I ended up having to chembomb the entire place to get rid of them all.

clean up whatever you got rotting with some lysol or bleach. remain vigilant for straglers after you clean. it may take a few days for them to all go away. they have a short life expectancy, so without a fertile breeding ground, they are as good as gone.

An exterminator told me to pour bleach down the drains in sinks and such and leave it there for like 24hours to make sure they all die. Dont know about onces that arent clustered around these areas though.

the bleach down the drain works .. they like to spawn in the j-trap. if you take the traps off, and clean em real good, that will give em one less place to breed.

move your fridge and stove out, and mop under em with 50/50 bleach/HOT water.

wash all of your shelves and your fridge out with 25/75 bleach/hot water.

if your stove sits in a cutout in the counter, make sure any cooking spills down the sides are bleached off.

check any gaskets on the fridge/freezer for funk. bleach em anyway.

fruit flies are a ***** to get rid of. worst things to draw em - tomatoes, banannas, and pears. dont know why, but banannas dont even really have to go bad before they show up. keep ripe banannas in a brown paper bag to cut down on em.

I worked in resturants for 10 years, and it's really a constant battle to keep the flies and gnats away.

oh ya, bleach out your trash bins too.

Put a little bleach in the bottom of your bin. The fumes will kill a lot of them

Funny thing is we've had a problem with the little buggers for the past week also. I think they're not really fruit flies, but an advance invasion force... All your fruit are belong to us...

    Sorry, thin air again..
