Is there any way to rip cd's with this card at higher the 128. I have the setting over 300 but when i rip it, it turns out to only be 128.
If you care about quality, only use mp3 when you have to. And if you do, find reasons not to. There are plenty of leet portables for example, that will play lossless audio codecs. If you do a side by side comparison of even the highest bitrate mp3 from a good source, on headphones or nice speakers, you can catch it. Some people aren't as good at it, but 3 weeks after encoding all your music and selling all your cd's, you'll hear it. And you will cringe. Rio karma for example, plays .flac And on top of that, is FREAKING COOL. You can network it to a wap for crying out loud!
I use Audiograbber to 'backup' my cd's. It'll rip to LAME at any old bit rate you like, or straight to FLAC if you want. and it's free. You'll have to install the lame.dll (or the flac encoder or whatever else) yourself but it's easy (drop into the audiograbber directory).
i might as well bung in my own choice for ripping to MP3 - CDex. uses EAC and LAME and packages them in a neat lil GUI. and is free.
