Over here in the states, where I live, NY, there is a new ISP. They're called Optimum Online and they provide cable internet. It's only available in parts of NY, NJ, and CT. They cap upload at 1000kbps. Normal download is around 5000kbps yet I've seen some tests at 10000kbps. My friend normally downloads at around 500kb/s and has seen speeds up to 3MB/s. The service should be in my area in 1-3 Months. They're installing the fiber as I speak. :) They have about half of my town done. And its only $50 American thats about 35 Pounds. Yeah, 1337ness.

I am ashamed to say I am a petite man, and I hate j00.

I look forward to the day when British companies take their heads out their asses, and give us what we want at a reasonable price.

I know for a fact that NTL have plans to release a Satellite Internet service some time. I was driving to devon and we took the wrong turn off and came across an NTL broadband Satellite the size of my house, I know it was broadband cus they had "Broadband" on the gate sign :D

Whether or not the service will be released to the home user, or even at all is another thing. NTL are in debt as well all know....

that test is flawed, im on a ntl512bb connection get about 60k"bytes" per second and i got 1000 kbytes per second on this test.. the best way to measure your speed is to actually monitor dl's...DU Meter 3.02 [ http://www.hageltech.com ] set a juciy iso download or something :)

    http://www.cable-modem.net/features/oct99/speed.html

^ seem abit more accurate... and remmeber to turn anything network-using off...
