Looking for a decent program to record actions on the screen or a specific area, any suggestions?

Something like SnagIt?

 

i use snagit to record peaces of game and it works fine

 

I used to use another program, it could record anything on the screen, and could even record sound, via mic, or whatever. .
Will have to have alook for it again though.

 

i use macromedia captivate you can download the trial on there website but its mad expensive

I've used MS Media Encoder in the past to record the screen for tutorials or whatever. If you want to record games - look at fraps.
