From what I've seen (not personal experience) the 6800 is the better option, seems to be faster atm, plus you can stick another in later and have a dual 6800 system.

    that's quite correct :)

The 6800 GT is a faster card than the pair of 6600's where it matters (at high res with AA and AF) delivering playable frame rates.

Yea, 6800 will give better results that 2x 6600.

my friend had a system with 2x6600 on sli, and was a lil disapointed...swapped them out for a 800PE and saved a lil cash....far better perfomace

    No SLI for 6800 GT

If I'm not mistaken, the 6800 GT cannot be used in SLI mode. You will need to go for 6800 ULTRA, unless there's some mod for the 6800 GT that I don't know about...

The 6800 GT PCI-E can be used in SLI mode, assuming you have the right motherboard and a matched pair of cards.

Wow, so you don't even need that little "SLI" connector thingy to do SLI? I'm confused...I was under the impression that the connector was designed to sync up the buses between the two cards... :eyebrow:

I'm sorry, I'm thinking of just a regular 6800GT, I realize now that it has to be the special "PCI-E" version of the card, which will probably have that SLI connector... :duh:

From what I've seen, the SLI selector is on the mobo, in between the two pcie gfx slots. You put it in one way for single, tother way for two cards.

and then you have to put on the bridge between the cards which is only possible on 6600GTs, 6800GTs and 6800Ultras ;)
