    Morning All,

I have a USB problem, that i am trying to fix.

Basicly i am trying to get my camera connected to the pc. Now before, i used to just plug the camera in the usb port, and in My Computer, a third storage device showed up. Thus being my camera.

Now i tried this again last night, and this morning, and i heard the sound, that Windows plays, when a usb device is connected. But that's it.
The storage device doesn't show up, so i can't acsess the camera.. :sigh:

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Thanks alot.

    Rob.

Is the memory in the camera or on a seperate card?
If it's on a seperate card, I would recommend a USB card reader.

I have had several digital cameras over the years, and USB always seems to be un-reliable when plugging in cameras.

I baught a 7 in 1 card reader for about £7 from ebuyer.

You've tried rebooting I take it?

Tried typing the drive letter of the camera into the address bar in explorer? Sometimes happens to me and doing this randomly makes the device appear.

Yeah, tried rebooting - same thing.

Erm, the card is inside the camera.

    Will try the drive thing.

    Thanks.

Does the drive appear in the hardware list?
(Control panel -> System - > Hardware -> Device Manager)

Sometimes the drive is assigned a drive letter which is already in use - to fix:

Right Click "My Computer" -> "Manage"
Select Disk Management, find the drive. Right click the partition and click "Change drive letters and paths" Click "Change" to assign it a differnt drive letter. If no letter is present click "add"

If that doesn't help, check the event log to see if an error is logged when you attach the drive.

    Drivers

Sounds to me like a Driver problem with the camera. If after hours of pain...try bringing the pain to someone elses computer and see what happen?

    Check what Logan says too...
