THEALE, ENGLAND, June 29 2006 – For the first time in the event’s history, this year’s Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC) will include a tournament played purely on notebook PCs. NVIDIA and leading performance notebook provider ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (ASUS) have teamed up to show the world that their latest generation of laptop technology offers gamers a real alternative to desktop PCs.

The competition is open to all ESWC finalists and pits players against each other in an intense one-to-one Counterstrike Speed Strike battle. At stake is a stunning first prize: the limited edition Asus Lamborghini VX1 Notebook based on the NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 7600 512MB graphics processing unit (GPU). Runners-up will not leave empty-handed either: second prize is an A6Jm gaming notebook with GeForce® Go 7600 512MB GPU, while third and fourth place receive an impressive bundle of mobile gaming hardware from ASUS and NVIDIA. For more details, visit http://www.esworldcup.com/2006/?act=specialops_asus.

Serge Lemonde, NVIDIA’s director of regional marketing for Europe, Africa, the Middle East and India, explains: “NVIDIA’s GeForce Go technology has truly taken notebook gaming to the next level, making mobile PCs a match for their deskbound counterparts. With NVIDIA, today’s high-performance notebooks from providers like ASUS can deliver the kind of gaming experience and performance previously available only from a desktop.”

Sunny Han, Director of Global Brand Centre from ASUS adds: “We’re delighted that the A6JM is the official notebook of ESWC. It provides increased computing performance for multitasking with longer battery supply and better power management. Thanks to the GeForce Go 7600 512MB graphics solution, the notebook delivers stunning true-to-life 3D performance for the ultimate gaming enjoyment. It even includes a built-in high-resolution webcam, so gamers can now see and chat with teammates while playing online!”
