Hopefully they'll allow for a further zoomed out view of the battle field, that was my only problem with the last game/series of expansion packs.

Keep things more along the lines of dark crusade than a long regular campain and I will be most happy. Dark crusade was a good mix of skirmish modes and decent missions.

Always felt like Company of Heroes was the spiritual sequel to Dawn of War....now to find out that there's a proper sequel in the works is awesome!

yay, 3 features i want the MOST from ALL games: quad core support, Dx10 graphics and coop campaign.

hope they include IG as an initial race, otherwise i'd have to play SM again, i'll miss my baneblade......

Apparently it's running on an updated version of the engine they used in CoH, and you'll apparently be limited to 6 squads, but the squad upgrade/customisation mechanics will but deeper.

So here's hoping tanks actually play like tanks rather than oversized infantry.

    6 squads?

thats 1 platoon of IG, not counting all the other support options.

normally an IG platoon is 5 squads + command + support units + special advisors

I normally field two in a standard game, therefore It is my current opinion the game will blow.

Only downside to this jubilant news is that it's coming out next year.

You can't really compare TT to the video game, they're two different animals

I can when TT was the original, the VG should be of the same scale, or even larger considering that the TT is supposed to be a small section of an overall battle, something more to the scale of supreme commander would be more appropriate.

infact the supcom engine is perfect for such a game, as it already includes similar units for all the types of things that exist in the 40k universe.

I'd imagine this will just be Company of Heroes with space marines and Tyranids. THQ already has a fine DX10 multi core capable engine in the COH, so it makes sense that they'd make use of it for the more successful DoW franchise.

The 40k universe is much more than just a TT game, although I'd like to see a game that's more in keeping with the table top, it doesn't have to be.

The whole reason DoW was so successful was because they didn't really try to emulate the TT too much, it wasn't trying to be 40k on the PC like some previous games, it was a great RTS that used the 40k setting.

And the animations for the dreadnaught killing orks was awesome!
I thought it was the most impressive RTS visually when the first demo came out way back when. I'm probably going to get a new PC early next year, which is great cause I really want to play this in all it's glory.

I think the whole point of them making a true sequel is so they can build a new engine and bring on things like the 'nids.
